The Place
Nestled inside a rather nondescript village called ChauddhaChuli in Purbo Medinipur, West Bengal, The Turiyo is the ancestral home of the descendants of Trailokyo Maiti. With roots going back over nine generations, the larger family now live in adjunct parcels of land, a cluster, that the locals fondly refer to as the ‘maiti bakhali’.
Situated at the northern end of the bakhali, the original quadrangular mud house of Trailokyo has made way for brick structures; but the place manages to hold on to its past memories, preserving the trees, ponds, and general contours of the land.
The village is very close to the old port of Khejuri (now extinct), a trading hub and landing point for seafarers in the colonial era. The ruins of an old post-office presumably India’s first telegraph station now stand in mute testimony of glorious times gone by.
The Program
‘Conscious Living’, where one is aware of the true nature of the self and our surroundings, is a conceptual way to restore the Sat-Chit-Anand (Awareness-Consciousness-Bliss) into our lives. But how do we put this idea into practice? It is not easy to negotiate the treacherous terrain of the material world corrupted by digital technologies. Going ‘off-the-grid’ is NOT an option.
Living in the karmic plane is our destined reality. Can we navigate our way within? Is there truly a path to restore the pristine beauty of our innately analog lives? Hopefully, together we can arrive at the answers.
Get invited to stay at The Turiyo. Spend some quiet time reflecting on the path that you have chosen, and share your journey with others.
The Dṛśya
to only those who seek.
