The Siva Mandir at Turiyo, a small painted temple with yellow pillars and red steps

There has always been a deep connection with Lord Siva in the family. Bandana, the matriarch of the household, prayed to the Lord for a son (when she was carrying) during her trip to Varanasi. She then conveniently forgot about it, till such time — much to her amazement — the son picked the Institute of Technology at BHU as his engineering college from many available options.

Since there was no rationale for this decision, Lord Siva was thrust with the responsibility, and Bandana concluded that her lapse in paying due respects led to her son being snatched back by the Lord. Almost forty years later, the son decided to bring the Lord back home from Assi Ghat. Then the temple came up, completely unplanned, almost by the will of the Lord.
