Rural India’s health access problem is well documented: a shortage and maldistribution of doctors and health workers, diagnostic technology that does not work in a rural setting, and administrative weakness. The consequence in villages like this one is that people either do not report illness, buy sub-standard care, pay heavily for private care, or arrive at a city hospital far too late.
With JSV Innovations, the foundation built the brick-and-mortar side of Uday, a digital primary care clinic in Chauddhachuli, running against JSV’s digital back end. It was inaugurated in January 2022.
The hard part was never the technology.

It was persuading people to trust a doctor who appears on a screen, and to report symptoms early. The foundation’s contribution was local research, rural marketing and community engagement designed specifically to shift that behaviour.
